Kelly Ann Monahan is a friendly, familiar voice in the Nashville area. You may have heard her announcing on the radio, you may have heard her reporting for television. And hopefully you’ve heard her sing.
Having gotten her start on commercial radio as a traffic anchor in Philadelphia, she made the leap to Nashville to pursue music, and began dj-ing and reporting traffic on Nashville radio stations including Star 97, WPLN, and 92Q.She also held down the afternoon traffic reporter position for Nashville television station WKRN for several years. She won “Best Traffic Reporter” at the 2003 Nashville Achievement In Radio Awards, and then became the news reporter and morning show producer for Star 97, from which she was nominated for an AIR Award for “Best News Reporter.” She then headed to Contemporary Christian station 94 FM The Fish in Nashville as The Fish's afternoon drive personality.This was in conjunction with the nationally-broadcast Today’s Christian Music Network.
Currently, you can hear Kelly every Saturday afternoon from 3-7 on Nashville's Country station 95.5 The Wolf.You also can hear her reporting traffic and news on a part-time basis during the week for various stations including Mix 92.9, WWTN, WSM-AM and television station WKRN.In early 2007, she signed on as a part-time instructor at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting’s Nashville campus, teaching a range of courses from news to copy.She also continues to write news and entertainment/feature articles for different publications, and has voiced radio spots that have aired in markets from Florida to New York City.
A singer/songwriter with a very identifiable voice, she has become a regular performer at many of Nashville’s hotspots.She has opened for major label artists such as Vince Gill and Shania Twain, and received the title “Suggested Artist” in the VH1 Song of the Year contest.Most recently, she became a member of Musicians On Call, which brings the healing power of music to the besides of patients at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She also writes and sings jingles, having launched her own jingle company in 2007 called Jingle Kells.
